LEADERSHIP FRAMEWORK

PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION:
My goal as an educator is to provide instruction to all students regardless of ability in a way that allows them to understand the material in their own unique way in an environment that is conducive to learning. I would like each student to have a purpose for learning and be able to relate their learning to their future ambitions. In my classroom would like my students to feel safe and are free to express themselves without any negativity.

I want to be able to challenge my students in a way that they can demonstrate their full potential regardless of their ability. There are students that need to me met half way and given the encouragement that maybe they would never het anywhere else and show them that they can be successful. With this in mind, differentiation of instruction is very important in helping students realize their true potential. Eventually students would be comfortable working independently.

Freedom of expression motivates students to be involved in classroom discussions especially if they know that they will not be criticized or jeered because of their opinion. That could be a true learning experience for everyone and I can show how positive things can come out of negative thoughts or feelings.

A purpose for learning helps each student understand why they need to be present in school, pay attention, stay focused and make use of what is being taught to them. I like to relate everything that we do in the classroom to a life situation. This is a great motivation for students to want to learn and be successful in life.

A safe learning environment for all students is very important. If students don't feel safe in their classroom it can affect their ability to focus and to learn. It is very important that all the stakeholders see me as approachable and one who will ensure the safety of students in the classroom.

PHILOSOPHY OF LEADERSHIP:
My goal as an administrator is to be a leader who develops meaningful relationships with all stakeholders with the focus of academic achievement. I will promote professional development, open communication, work ethic and diversity. I will embrace diversity teamwork and school culture. I will encourage input in decision making.
As a school leader, it is important to develop positive and meaningful relationships with everyone. This would include open communication, being respectful of the school culture, encouraging professional growth, embrace diversity and collaborate with all stakeholders for the overall success of the campus. Being respectful of the school culture means that the leader should not come in and make changes right away but observe the operation of school and see what it is important where changes can be made and if it would be beneficial to change or not change. This would create a positive environment on the campus and staff would be motivated to be part of the community and work towards student success.
Great work ethics and moral responsibility are important because the school is often seen as the heart of the community and should be a good reflection of the community. It is important that all stakeholders know what is expected of them through teacher job descriptions, code of ethics, code of conduct, mission statements and campus improvement plans.
Positive relations with staff is very important as this can affect the culture of the entire campus. I would incorporate rewards program and recognition for students and staff to motivate them and make them aware of how important they are and the good jog that they do. I would encourage professional growth within the campus, the district, nationally and internationally.

VISION FOR LEARNERS:
Students will know what is expected of them and will act accordingly while feeling safe in the classroom and knowing that they will have the support of their teachers and parents every step of the way.
The world is changing rapidly and students should keep up with all the changes by way of education. In keeping up with these changes the students will come out of the educational system ready and able to make a valuable and meaningful contribution to society.
Students will become accountable for their needs and actions and be a self-advocate. Students should speak up for themselves and states what their shortcomings are and investigate and make known how their teachers can assist them in achieving their goals. Many student learn in different ways and may understand things at a different pace. When students realize this, they should be able to have discussions in a respectful way to determine what accommodations or interventions they may need to be successful.

Students will have access to current learning materials and technology that will make them marketable. The curriculum will meet the needs of the students and will help students achieve their educational goals. This will improve student success and improve the outlook of the community.
VISION FOR TEACHERS:
To develop meaningful instruction to students using strategies to meet the needs of unique learners. Many students are taught in the traditional way without any differentiation which results in some students being left by the wayside. By differentiating instruction, the teacher encourages and facilitate academic success. Students would be more willing to learn and step out of their comfort zone and try their very best to be successful when they see that the teacher is working to meet their needs.
The role of the teacher has changed over the years and they are not only responsible to teach but to provide a well-rounded education to the child with includes lots of other responsibilities. Teachers are responsible for the safety of their students while they are under their supervision. Classroom management and discipline issues are expected to be handled by the teacher. By doing this the teacher can develop a relationship with the student, get to know them and be aware of any signs or issues of concern that may arise. Some teachers are expected to play the role of counselor, nurse, parent and comforter.

VISION FOR THE ORGANIZATION:
The vision of the organization starts with the leader. This is a very important vision that will be the one that stakeholders observe and one that will determine the climate, its success and connection to the community. The vision should reflect expectations that meet the needs of all stakeholders to ensure that they are met and achieved. It is important to set high expectations to be a good representation of the community.
The leader will facilitate a climate of collaboration on matters involving the stakeholders. Teachers, parents and students especially are motivated when they are a part of the vision plan. When people feel like they are a part of an organization, they take ownership of what is expected of them and work towards the success of the organization. This type of involvement impacts the school culture in a positive way. Involving the community in decisions through site based decision making (SBDM) meetings give them a sense of belonging and will foster greater community spirit.
To create an effective educational institution with a focus on academic achievement of all students regardless of race, gender and ethnicity. For this reason, the vision might vary from year to year to reflect growth. Leaders will be up to date with changes in society, curriculum and technology among others that will impact the school’s vision. This growth would include professional development where teachers constantly learn about new developments in the profession that will keep them up to date with trends in the profession. There will be open communication between leaders and teachers regarding any changes that take place in the educational system that will impact student success.

VISION FOR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH:
Professional growth is important with the changes that take place daily. These changes impact education, the teachers and the students. Professional development helps teachers to understand these changes and what they need to do in the classroom to keep their instruction current.
These are ever changing times and these changes require that we keep up to date so teachers can pass on up to date information or use updated information to educate students. Our educational system is greatly influenced by these changes. With increasing knowledge through professional development, educators become proficient and will be more comfortable imparting knowledge using new strategies or new technology.
Professional growth can be mandated by the federal government, the state, the district, the campus or departments to be current with all the changes that can take place. This professional growth can determine the success of the school and should be a part of the school’s vision since this is an ongoing process.

METHOD OF VISION ATTAINMENT:
The vision can be attained through instituting professional development where teachers are kept informed of current trends in their content area. This could be through professional learning communities where teachers meet periodically with their colleagues to discuss content area related material such as teaching strategies, curriculum updates, analyze data, or do book studies. In the PLCs teachers can also model best practices that they have used and found to be effective in classroom instruction, classroom management or behavior management.
Teachers visiting classrooms of teachers who are experts in specific areas is another way that the vision could be attained. Some schools have teachers indicate on their door what instructional strategies they are using and any teacher in the building can come in to observe how it is implemented. This is a very inexpensive way of professional development and the teachers do not have to leave the campus or leave their assigned classes.
The vision can be attained through open communication and collaboration where all stakeholders have an input regarding the vision that would be effective in meeting the goals of the campus. This may include some change and it is important for the leaders to collaborate with staff to avoid any misunderstanding or tension.
